DAISHI YOSHIMOTO, AIA　Principal

A licensed architect both in Japan and the US, Daishi Yoshimoto has developed a unique career which spans multiple cultures and over 30 years of experience in residential, commercial, and hospitality design. As principal of Yoshimoto Associates, he continues working to create spaces that enrich its context, enliven lives, and empower his clients' vision.

Yoshimoto attended architecture programs at the University of Florida (BA Arch.) and the University of California, Berkeley (M. Arch), after which he worked for Stanley Saitowitz in San Francisco. In Japan, he worked for 20 years at Takenaka, one of Japan's top general contractors, where he was briefly stationed at the Hamad International Airport jobsite in Doha. His projects at Takenaka include the French Embassy in Tokyo and Tri-Seven Roppongi. He later joined hotel operator UDS, where he led his design team in numerous hospitality projects including the Onsen Ryokan Yuen Shinjuku and Hamacho Hotel. Over the years, his projects have received recognitions in major Japanese and international design awards.

Along with his colleagues, Yoshimoto founded the Japan Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 2005, and has since served in its board. He served as Chapter President in 2018 and International Region representative in 2020-21.

Yoshimoto has taught in the undergraduate architecture studio at Kokushikan University and the International Architecture and Urban Design (I-AUD) graduate studio at Meiji University.

吉本大史代表

1970年東京生まれ。カリフォルニア大学バークレー校大学院修了後にサンフランシスコで建築家スタンレー・サイトウィッツに師事。竹中工務店設計部で20年間にわたり「フランス大使館」「トライセブン六本木」など、海外での設計経験を活かした外資系プロジェクトのほか、主に集合住宅、オフィス、商業施設の設計を担当。のちにUDSで「温泉旅館由縁新宿」「HAMACHO HOTEL」など宿泊施設を中心に建築・インテリアの設計を手掛け、2021年にヨシモトアソシエイツ設立。

アメリカで在職中にカリフォルニア州建築家免許を取得し、アメリカ建築家協会（AIA）に入会。2005年に有志で日本支部（AIA Japan）を設立後、2015年に一般社団法人アメリカ建築家協会日本支部として組織を法人化。AIA日本支部代表理事（2018）、AIA国際支部日本代表理事（2019-21）を歴任。

2016年から2023年まで国士舘大学理工学部建築学系、2025年より明治大学大学院国際建築都市デザイン系（I-AUD）において、非常勤講師を担当。
