DAISHI YOSHIMOTO, AIA Principal
A licensed architect both in Japan and the US, Daishi Yoshimoto has developed a unique career in architecture which spans multiple cultures and over 29 years of experience. As principal of Yoshimoto Associates, he continues to work in creating spaces that enrich its context, enliven peoples' lives, and empower his clients' vision.
Yoshimoto is a graduate of architecture programs at the University of Florida and University of California, Berkeley. His professional career started at Takenaka, one of Japan's top design-builders where he designed some of the company's most high-profile projects including the French Embassy redevelopment and Tri-Seven Roppongi. While at Takenaka, he was briefly stationed in Qatar for the new international airport project. Building upon his experience in residential and commercial design, Yoshimoto later joined UDS, where he lead his design team for numerous hospitality projects including the Onsen Ryokan Yuen Shinjuku and Hamacho Hotel. Over the years, his projects have received recognition in major domestic and international design awards.
A founding member of the Japan Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), he served as President in 2018 and is currently its representative to the International Region board. In parallel with his professional practice, Yoshimoto teaches a design studio at Kokushikan University's architecture program.
