Replacing the existing airport, this enormous new airport sits on reclaimed landfill and becomes the gateway to hundreds of destinations serviced by Qatar's flag carrier Qatar Airways and others. Takenaka undertook the construction of the Emiri terminal and the mosque and carpark facilities next to the main terminal. The tent roofs of the parking structure and the glass/aluminum dome roof of the mosque were design/build efforts by the on-site team of architects and engineers.
カタールの首都ドーハの巨大新空港はフラッグキャリアであるカタール航空のハブ空港である。世界各国のゼネコンへ工区別に工事が発注された中で、竹中工務店では王室専用ターミナル（エミリターミナル）と共にメインターミナルに隣接する立体駐車場とモスクを担当した。駐車場の幕屋根やモスクのドーム屋根等、高度なエンジニアリングと施工品質が求められる部分は設計施工パッケージとして請負い、日本から多くの設計者が現地に駐在して設計から施工図管理までを担当した。
